Position Title: Cashier Accountant
Department: Finance
Reports To: Finance Manager
Location: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
1. Position Summary
The Cashier Accountant is responsible for managing all cash and banking operations, recording financial transactions accurately, and ensuring compliance with Soreti International Trading’s accounting policies and Ethiopian financial regulations. This role combines cashier responsibilities with accounting functions to maintain accurate financial records and support financial reporting.
2. Key Responsibilities

| Cash Handling & Banking | • Receive, process, and disburse cash, checks, and other payments.• Maintain accurate cash balances and perform daily cash reconciliation.• Prepare and deposit daily bank collections.• Monitor petty cash and ensure proper usage. |
| Accounting & Recordkeeping | • Record all financial transactions in accounting software accurately and timely.• Maintain subsidiary ledgers, journals, and supporting documentation.• Assist in month-end and year-end financial closing processes.• Ensure compliance with Ethiopian Accounting Standards (EAS) and internal policies. |
| Financial Reporting | • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly cash flow reports.• Support the preparation of management and statutory reports.• Identify discrepancies and provide recommendations for correction. |
| Internal Control & Compliance | • Ensure adherence to internal controls for cash and accounting procedures.• Support internal and external audits by providing required records and explanations.• Safeguard company assets and maintain confidentiality of financial information. |
| Other Duties | • Assist in account reconciliations, supplier and customer statements.• Participate in process improvement initiatives for financial operations.• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Finance Manager. |
3. Qualifications & Requirements

| Experience | Minimum 2/4 years of experience in accounting, cash handling, or finance operations. |
| Skills | • Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Pastel, Tally).• Strong numerical and analytical skills.• Knowledge of Ethiopian tax laws and financial regulations.• Strong attention to detail and accuracy. |

4. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Accuracy of daily cash reconciliations.
- Timeliness of financial record submission.
- Compliance with internal controls and audit findings.
- Error-free recording of transactions.
5. Reporting & Authority
- Reports directly to the Finance Manager.
- Authorized to handle cash transactions within the limits defined by company policy.
